Amazing piece, yet again. Though I am no sport fanatic, I do go thru the news but this is the first time I have heard of the women’s world cup to be held in about a month!

Sad state of affairs for BCCI, I hope somebody pulls off a Chak de on it before long.

Thank you, Shobhana. It's crazy that there is almost no build-up. And, crazy as it sounds, I don't think success will truly change the BCCI's ways. Harmanpreet's innings and India Women's Under-19 win in 2023 and 2025 were good enough platforms to build from.

So very well put! It had always bothered me that women cricketers winning or practicing went into delhi times or some glossy supplement instead of the main sports page. While the men’s cricket team getting off the bus or playing football in the stadium would find its space in sports page. Thank you for writing this.

It's wild how indifferent the BCCI is. The Indian Women’s team had been asking their board for a dedicated sports psychologist since 2016. Last year, just before the T20 World Cup, the BCCI arranged for a sports psychologist to conduct a couple of sessions. That's all. Where do you even go from here?
