When big money devoured media, we still had social media. But now that's gone too! As the algorithm continues to shape public opinion, I feel that the few of us here are living on the fringes. All we have is our own voice and little else. And what does our voice amount to? Apart from saying and doing the right thing, it amounts to solidarity - with those affected and with those speaking out. That's our job now.
Sarthak, Such powerful writing in the simplest of words with the background of sports. Hope some change happens though I feel so hopeless about all this. As much truth as the below line holds, sometimes one wishes to escape this and live in "ignorance is bliss".
"The escape he offers, in this specific situation, isn’t from the dullness of daily life but from the moral burden of awareness."
A beautiful article, Sarthak. You have do perfectly used sports to shine the spotlight on our collective responsibility to at the least be aware, and the uphill task that can be in today’s world.
"The escape he offers, in this specific situation, isn’t from the dullness of daily life but from the moral burden of awareness." Frankly, this can apply to all of us.
Thank you writing about things that really matter, so gently. And for weaving all this into sport, and sport into this - reiterating that everything is interconnected, even when our fatigued minds choose to avoid it.

Totally! Voices are powerful, so here we are :)
This is so scary to read, scarier still because it’s so well written. Why are we as a race so bent on self destruction :(
Thank you, Reshma. And indeed :S

Thank you so much, Rakhi :)
And I totally agree. Ignorance might be sometimes necessary for us, but for a media org to ask that from a writer is objectively insane haha.
Yeah about the media org, totally agree, but unfortunately, these things do not even surprise us anymore.

Thank you, Binu :)
Riveting stuff, Sarthak. Much needed and very important.
Loved how sport was weaved in to this.
Thank you, Avinash :)
So many people come to instant judgment when they’ve not taken any time to attempt to understand
Powerful stuff, Sarthak. And necessary.

Thank you for reading and always being so kind with your response, Ila :)
